Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What Platform do you build your website on?
We use WordPress, an open-source content management software and currently powers around 25% of all websites on the Internet. The project is contributed to by tens of thousands of developers all over the world and is growing from strength to strength. WordPress allows us to develop flexible and customisable websites to modern standards and observes web development best practices.
Furthermore, the community of web developers that use WordPress reaches far and wide and allows us to tap into this collective intelligence and bring that wealth of experience to your project.
How are you different from Wix or Squarespace?
Wix and Squarespace are tailored for DIY-ers. You will need to invest in time to learn how to create your website, add content, change it to match your branding colours.
Our aim is to make it a lot easier and faster for you to launch by doing it all for you. No technical or design knowledge is required.
We will also look after your site and ensure they are up to date and working properly through our care plans. You can choose the level of your care plan if you need more assistance and make small changes for your website (things like changing images or texts).
The only thing you will need to do is to set up your own booking calendar because we understand that your availability, offerings and venues might change frequently.
Can I reschedule the date?
Your payment secures the slot in my calendar and allows me to give you my undivided attention. This also means I can’t take other work. No refunds are available from the time of booking. Additionally, no refunds are considered during or after the project period.
As a one time courtesy, you can reschedule your VIP Day once as long as it is done at least 7 days before the design day. If you need to change your design date after the 7 day period, or after you have rescheduled once, we still love you! However, we charge a 25% rescheduling fee of the current price at the time of the rescheduling.
What content do I need to provide?
You will need your logo, branding elements and style guide, photos and copy content for the website. Don’t worry we will send you a content checklist to make sure nothing is over-sighted.
We also will set up your booking system so it has your company setting and colour scheme. We will then provide you with tutorials on how to set up your services, appointments, availability, pricing and use the booking system.
Why do I need a care plan as well as hosting?
Many people think once their WordPress website is built, it’s done. However, keeping a website up to date and functioning properly over time requires daily, weekly and monthly management. Your careplan will cover your cloud hosting, updates and maintenance each month for your peace of mind, hosting and dedicated time for your business.
The affordable monthly care plan allows any business even small businesses with tight cash flow to have the opportunity of having a world-class website.
Lastly, our website plan provides peace of mind. Your website will be hosted on our server and kept up by our team.
You don’t ever have to worry about any maintenance issues or troubleshooting errors, we will keep your site running smoothly and take care of any issues that will inevitably arise.
Can I host my website somewhere else?
Our plan doesn’t only give you a fast secured hosting but also peace of mind on your website performance, as well as access to our premium plugins (worth US$400/year), troubleshooting, backups, and speed maintenance.
If you are inclined to bring your own hosting, you will be responsible for acquiring the premium plugins we use for your website, including the premium theme, plugins, and the booking system page that I use for your website and keeping them up to date.
These will stay on your website but they might not work properly on your site if it doesn’t get updated and will affect your website.
For a price of less than a cup of coffee a day your website will be maintained, looked after, and optimised for your business.
What happens if I don't keep my website up to date
Contrary to what people believe, websites are not set and forget.
If you don’t keep your website core, theme, and plugins up to date, your website is at risk of not performing well or getting down, slow, and more importantly at risk of getting unwanted attacks.
While you have your plugins in tact, not updating your WordPress and plugins might break the website or stop it to function the way it should be.
Can I cancel my hosting/careplan?
You can cancel anytime.
Just simply email me and I will package up your website files and deliver them over to you to host, manage and maintain your own website moving forward in 7 days. We’ll include a copy of The Website Owner’s Manual which will help you keep track of all the important details about your website; including logins, routine maintenance, & answers to our most frequently asked questions to help you have continued success with your website.
You will be responsible for acquiring the premium plugins we use for your website but we will give you the list so you can purchase them yourself.
Do I own my website?
Once you have paid off the full term of your website contract, the website is all yours. We can then choose to host, manage and maintain the website on your own or leave it with us by signing up for our ongoing care plan.
If you want to keep your site and move it to your own host we will package up your current database and files and hand them over to you. You will lose all the benefit from hosting/careplan with us, though so you will be responsible for backups, updates and optimisation. You will also need to acquire the licenses for the premium plugins we use for your website but we will give you the list so you can purchase it yourself.
How much can we achieve on the day?
Typically we can finish up to 7 pages based on the template you choose in a day, but the completion of your project will depend on the scope, amount of customisation, length of content as well as feedback, and revisions you request as we go through the day.
Can you add/remove/modify/customise any section on my page?
Absolutely! We understand no business is the same. When we send you the content planner, just leave blank what you don’t need and I will put together the elements of the theme you chose strategically based on your content.
We will also have 30 minutes chat prior our day to make sure we are on the same page before we work intensively on the day.
All our designs are drag and drop so you can even modify them yourself.
What if I need you to help more?
That would be no problem at all! You can book another day and get your design to do list checked off quickly – no more long projects with lots of back and forth communication. See here for more details.
Are there additional cost not included in my monthly payment?
That depends on variables specific to your website build – you can choose these options when you book.
When you take payment via Paypal or Stripe, they will charge small cost of commission which depends on your transaction values.
There is also an additional cost of email hostings and SMS reminders (the local fee from your phone provider) apply.
Don’t worry, if you aren’t sure about this, I will help you make the decision and point you in the right direction.
How many revisions do I get?
As you book me for a day, there is no limitation on how many changes you request within our time limit. If additional time may be required, we will discuss your options as we go through the day.
What happen if I have more visitors than my hosting allowance let me or need more storage for my website?
The lowest care plan comes with 5GB storage which will take you a long way. But when your business growing, you will have options to upgrade your hosting. We will let you know when you reach your bandwidth.
Additional 5GB can be purchased for additional $10/mo
Do you manage emails?
We do NOT manage emails. We highly recommend you host your emails on a server and platform separate from your website for security reasons. There are plenty of great platforms such as Zoho, Office 365 and Google Suite which do a great job for email management.
We are a reseller of Rackspace however (please get in touch for the current fee) and can help setting it up on your website when you are using our hosting, which includes:
- Email @ your domain
- Secure IMAP (for Outlook & Mobile)
- Premium spam & virus protection
- Huge 25 GB mailboxes
- Email forwarding
- Easily recover deleted email
- 50 MB attachment
Other great platforms include Zoho, Rackspace, Office 365 and Google Suite which do a great job for email management.
